Your Website Is Costing You Money—Here’s How to Fix It

Your website is bleeding money, and you probably don’t even realize it.

Most small business owners treat their websites like a glorified business card: a little bit of info, some nice pictures, and maybe a contact form. And then they wonder why it doesn’t generate leads, sales, or conversions.

Here’s the truth: If your website isn’t built to convert, it’s actively costing you money. And the worst part? Most of the mistakes keeping your site from making you money are 100% fixable.

1. Your Site Takes Too Long to Load

Speed kills. Literally. If your website takes longer than 3 seconds to load, over half of your visitors will bounce before they even see your content. That’s potential revenue walking right out the door.

Fix it: Compress your images, use a fast hosting provider, and remove unnecessary scripts or plugins that slow things down. Google PageSpeed Insights is your best friend here.

2. Your Website Is Confusing

Visitors should know EXACTLY what you do within 5 seconds of landing on your homepage. If they have to dig through paragraphs of fluff to find out what problem you solve, they’re gone.

Fix it: Make your headline clear and value-driven. Instead of “Welcome to Smith & Co,” say, “We Help Small Businesses Increase Revenue With Affordable Marketing Solutions.”

3. No Clear Call-to-Action (CTA)

You wouldn’t leave a customer standing in your store without asking if they need help. Your website is no different.

Fix it: Every page should have a CTA (Buy Now, Book a Call, Download This, etc.). Make it obvious and repeat it multiple times.

4. It’s Not Mobile-Friendly

Over 60% of web traffic is mobile. If your site looks like a jumbled mess on a phone, you’re losing business.

Fix it: Test your site on mobile devices, use responsive design, and keep text large enough to read without zooming.

5. Your SEO Sucks (Or Doesn’t Exist)

If you’re not ranking on Google, you’re invisible. Period.

Fix it: Optimize your site with proper keywords, use meta descriptions, and post regular content (like blogs) that answers customer questions.
